Many years ago I was in Byron Bay Australia and a sign out the front of the Church spoke volumes on this subject it said:

Everybody wants to change the world.
Few People want to change themselves.

And right there is the problem. Change is the  probably the most difficult thing for the human personality/ego to accept, why is that?

To me the answer is quite simple, when you understand that the mechanism of ego/personality mind is in fact a tool. It is a learning tool, it’s primary design is to assist us to interact with life.

Can you imagine how difficult it would be to have to re-learn how to drive a car every time you needed to get to work, let alone learn your job anew everyday, or if you had to re-learn how to eat, or speak. It’s fundamental purpose is to assist the physical entity (your body) to survive and interact with the world.

Our human ego/mind/ personality learns through experience, feelings if you like. It stores those experiences & feelings and files them accordingly to activate the program when the appropriate stimulus is received, in many respects not unlike a computer, press the appropriate buttons and you get the same response every time.. (pretty much, with some variations)

So how does this relate to change & why does change create such stress in our bodies. The answer is simple, when circumstances change and you are thrown into a new situation your ego mind is looking for a program to run and it cannot find one.

In essence that is the simplicity of it, in other words the journey is not about getting everything fixed or right in your Universe … the journey is about learning how to dance on a moving carpet.
